Kantata SX can track time on a project and categorize it for billable or non-billable based on rules you set. Examples of non-billable work could be Goodwill, PTO, or jury duty and utilization factors can vary on each. Goodwill, for example, may give the resource full credit for their time while PTO will be excluded.

How do I track PTO or vacation within utilization?

PTO or vacation are a type of activity typically excluded when calculating utilization. Although it’s tracked in Kantata SX, it falls into the denominator as “excluded usage.”

Is there a best practice for non-billable utilization?

Utilization targets are organization-specific and should be accompanied by well-defined parameters. Establishing clear guidelines, such as excluding PTO or assigning 50% utilization factor for business development time, strengthens employee comprehension and accountability.

Can I track project status details?

Absolutely. Out of the box, Kantata SX has the ability to track and record periodic project updates; full RAID and RAG details along with customized perspectives all of which are reportable and visible via the Portfolio functionality.
